The T.V. has been tapping into my brain.

So  i had been having these weird cravings to watch Pretty Woman a couple of weeks ago and often found myself thinking about how enhanced my life would be should i own it. And as if by some cosmic hand of fate, lo and behold, there it was on ITV2 last monday. I watched it with Charly and Karl (who was surprisingly lacking in complaint for a boy being forced to watch such a chick flick) it was, of course brill and-even better, was repeated a few days later. I watched it again, and cried again. Kit’s outfit=amazing incredible good

juliaVivian’s outfit=mad awesome good i would totally wear that.

pretty-woman-movie-01I really would wear that dress, WOAH hot babe. Also amazing: the moment right after this bit where he snaps shut the box and she squeals, Vivian is so cute, no wonder Julia Roberts ended up being the highest paid actor in Hollywood, she rules. (If i marry my boyfriend my name will be Julia Roberts and what i am hoping is that by some brilliant twist of confusion we will meet, cos thats what happened to my friend Jane Collins and Joan Collins.)

SO anyway, while watching Pretty Woman round 2, and thinking about how the T.V had read my brain and brought me my desire, i remarked how i had a funny urge to watch The Addams Family, one of my all time favourite childhood movies and most definitely one of the most important films of my life. WHAT WAS ON THE T.V. THE VERY NEXT DAY? uh huh! Unfortunately i was on my way out and couldn’t sit down to enjoy, but i was prompted to dig out my own VHS and oh how the memories came flooding back, i mean, what a completely and entirely flawless piece of cinematographic work.

There were of course, its parents, the cartoon (watch clip here) and the T.V show  (amazing opening credits): Which were undeniably feeble in comparison to the movie but nevertheless bore the seeds of its ripe and juicy fruits so must anyway be given a mention.

Back to the point at hand. “The Addams Family” had things no other film has had, and those qualities are in fact impossible to example because they are sheer essence, magic and LURE. Morticia is undeniably the most beautiful babesome babe whom ever existed and my total style icon

0065anjelica_huston3huston3She is so tall and mysterious and sexy , with the most mesmerizing voice, and i wish i was like her. Her brilliance is enhanced by the fact she is played by Angelica Huston who is still way hot and furthermore that she is a wholesome and amazing Mother to her children and Wife to the one of the sexiest, most romantic men EVER  Gomez Addams (While watching Morticia sleeping) “Look at her. I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss!” AHH I LOVE HIM.

played by the amazing Raul Julia-JEEZ what a name (RIP). (I think these pair might qualify for a separate post of their own)

gallery_addams_02_320x240 The mind-blowingly fantastic cast continues with Christina Ricci as Wednesday, whose amazing quotes include (when asked why she has come to Halloween dressed in her normal clothes) “I’m a homicidal maniac, they look just like everyone else” She is also not only a style icon of mine, but also a general ‘attitude’ and ‘charisma’ icon. I actually like to attribute my grumpiness to my quest to be just like her. (I am plumping Roberts up so we can go to Halloween as Wednesday and Pugsley)

414204279_6bce92f9e0Also deserving of mentions: Cousin IttAnd of course, everyone’s favourite little man: Thing

afthing2

Morticia>Thing, “Oh Thing, you’re such a handful.” Oh Morticia, you are so funny.

Other good Addams Family Quotes (I love quotes): Morticia:”Don’t torture yourself, Gomez- that’s my job.” (you know they have the BEST sex life) Grandma: Dinner’s gonna be late. [goes outside] Here, boy! Here, boy! Lurch: Uh-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-uh. Morticia>Gomez: Last night, you were unhinged. You were like some desperate howling demon. You frightened me. Do it again.

Wednesday: Pass the salt. Morticia: And what do we say? Wednesday: NOW.

TAF trivia: <3 The part of Morticia was originally offered to Cher, who passed because she felt that “The Addams Family” wouldn’t do enough to boost her slumping (at least at the time) film career.

<3Director Barry Sonnenfeld plays the passenger in one of Gomez’s trains.

<3Thing was played by the hand of actor and magician Christopher Hart. In the TV series, Thing was said to be played by “Itself,” but was actually the appendage of Ted “Lurch” Cassidy most of the time.

<3The seedy motel sequences were shot at the Wampum Court Motel in Sylmar, CA, a 1950s relic that had definitely seen better days. To enhance the fleabag image, two gaudily-painted signs were added for the film, touting “air conditioning” and the deliberately misspelled “kitchins.”

The  House and the Bermuda Triangle still bring me butterflies and a sort of miserable joy, gifted with a mystery i shall never know and an intrigue that haunts me still OH what i wouldn’t give to live in the fictional world of The Addams’s and to have it be REAL. BLAH! It really is such a visual treat, the set decorator Marvin March (amazing name) was also responsible, for among others Ghostbusters, They Live, Star Trek and Beverly Hills Cop III GENIUS MUCH?

It is perhaps also worth the measliest of mentionings there was of course a sequel “The Addams Family Values” i mean, sure it had Joan Cusack, and she was good. But really. It was just unnecessary, except for:000217-000086and fondue_addamsfamilyvalues_wideweb__470x3160
